In Delhi, schools will be closed for a week starting Monday and construction activities will not be permitted from 14 to 17 November, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday. He said all government agencies would work from home. According to Kejriwal, virtual lessons at school will continue, but physics lessons will be cancelled, so children will not have to go out and breathe polluted air. The Chief Minister spoke after a meeting called to discuss emergency measures to address the deterioration of the city's air quality.
The air quality in Delhi improved slightly on Sunday and moved from the "harsh" category to the "very weak" category on Saturday, thanks to the winds that helped spread pollutants. The Air Quality Early Warning System predicts that AQI will remain in the "very weak" category until at least Tuesday.
